The Director for People Opportunity

The Director for People is the focal point for an effective employee relations and employee engagement climate and has a role across Norfolk public sector bodies to collaborate on workforce strategies and initiatives. As a member of the Corporate Board and the Strategy and Transformation Department, you will contribute to the wider leadership of NCC whilst providing leadership and direction to the Human Resources department of c120 comprising HR services, OD, Strategic HR business partnering and Health & Safety.

Critical to this role is to work across a diverse organisation and wide range of professional colleagues and needs to provide a collective HR response aligned to the strategic goals of the council.

Offering a hybrid flexible working model, this high-profile appointment will offer huge scope and challenge, supported by an aligned Executive leadership team committed to the people and culture agenda. The role requires a professional strategic HR leader, with knowledge and understanding of the public sector and experience of leading significant change and organisational development programmes across large, complex organisations. As a Chartered member of the CIPD (or equivalent), you will demonstrate a proven track record in the successful leadership of a progressive, value add HR department. You will have led initiatives to develop a highly motivated, engaged and skilled workforce, delivered effective well-being strategies and have championed equality, diversity, inclusion programmes to deliver progressive change.

We are looking for a proactive, solution led individual with vision, tenacity and collaborative stakeholder management skills, and an inspiring coaching and mentoring management style. You will also demonstrate an authentic and grounded approach, be creative and forward thinking, with the gravitas and credibility to influence at board level.
